It all started back in 1859, in of all places, Bridgeport, Connecticut. This is the birthplace of Robert Wayne Loudon, who grew up a “Connecticut Yankee” in the heart of New England but left his family and his heritage for the thrills and excitement of the “wild, wild West”. Loudon traveled west, first joining the US 7th Calvary in the late 1870’s (the re-established 7th Calvary-- after total inileation of the 7th’s troops and their illustrious leader, General George A. Custer, had occurred at the hands of the Sioux, Cheyenne and Arapaho “united” Indian Nation led by the infamous Chief Sitting Bull).  Later Loudon became a Wells Fargo Express wagon driver helping deliver mail and valuables to settlers located in the dessert south west territory of New Mexico. It was New Mexico, the “land ofenchantment”, that won the heart and spirit of Loudon and led him to settle in the rugged mountainous area near the city of Albuquerque in the mid 1880’s. Over the next 5 decades Loudon became a local “cattleman legend” throughout the territory. The Loudon Ranch and its “Flag L” brand were known throughout the area. Loudon’s family grew about as much has his herd of cattle, with a wife and 6 children; there was always a need to be “cooking something up” to feed the family and the hungry cow hands that worked on the ranch.

It’s this rich Loudon family history that Cattlemen’s Authentic Western BBQ is built upon. Whether it’s from our original Loudon Ranch horse saddles to our 100 year old Loudon dairy barrel with the “Flag L” brand engraved, our families’ western heritage is evident throughout Cattlemen’s. We encourage you to let our family pictures reveal the legacy and history of this unique western story. You will come to realize that Cattlemen’s is the “real thing”--not some western gimmick chain restaurant.  We pride ourselves in providing you with the very best Southwestern BBQ beef/pork and chicken you can find absolutely anywhere. Throw in some amazing “Deep South” recipes (green beans, collard greens, corn bread and “so much more”) topped off with some down home southern hospitality and service and you have the perfect ingredients necessary for a wonderful evening for the entire family. Welcome to Cattlemen’s!  Get ready to enjoy!

We make everything special.  If it aint special, we won't get excited about it. If we aint excited about it, we won't serve it to you. That's our promise!
